Comedy Eve errors.

Greetings alliance,
Let me explain what mistakes I made that led to the loss of my new sabre and my pod, in a hope that by writing it down I might not make this mistake again. and perhaps some of the younger players that are not too busy laughing their ass off might take notice of the procedural errors I made that lead to my ship loss and eventual pod.
After a report of Multiple hostiles and an ajdacent system, I volunteered to run the pipe to 0.0 to make sure there were no huge enemy fleets on the way to the syndicate. So I set my destination to the first 0.0 syetem at the end of the pipe even though I never intended to actually enter 0.0 on this scouting trip. I intended to go to the end of the low sec pipe and run back.

MISTAKE #1 I set a destination to a system I never intended to enter.

After reaching the last low sec system on the pipe and finding no huge fleets, I attempted to set my destination back to our staging point, and I believe that I missed the menu and did not actually set the new destination, and then I did not bother to look at the new destination as it was covered by my local window. So I followed the yellow gate and...

MISTAKE #2 I did not double check my second destination. Nor did I double check the gate I was jumping though.

When I my client loaded the 0.0 system on the other side of the gate I still did not realize I was in 0.0 space at first. I saw an enemy fleet but I at first assumed I was in the first system on the way back to our staging area. after seeing the gate camp I needed to know the exact name of the system so I could report to the fleet about the camp. This was the first time I closed my local to see my current location. (pucker)

MISTAKE #3 Always keep your clone up to date. weather you intend to PVP or not. you never know when you might accidently take the wrong gate out of Orvolle into PF-346 instead of Mesybier. (big difference) I had actually not upgraded from the 900k clone after getting my last pod.

It was one of those deaths where you never get to see your pod... my client lagged out when my poor sabre only had about 15% structure left. and all I saw was my burning sabre bouncing out of control. I had to restart my client to get back to the station my clone is kept at.
In both aviation and maritime culture it is commonly known that major accidents rarely are caused by a single failure or system fault. If fact the worst accidents almost always are caused by a cascading and sometimes compounding series of mistakes and or failures. The end result of this series of mistakes in this case, was a ship, implants, about 300k lost skill points, and perhaps the element of surprise.
